He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Holmbeck and Esther Holmbeck (Kail); his son Matthew; his half-brother Robert Holmbeck (Marilynn); and his brother-in-law Richard Lange.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his daughter Signe Holmbeck; his grandchildren, Ingrid and Walter Standifer; and his siblings, Al (Nancy), Tom (Patty) and Karen Lange. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.
