He was predeceased by: his children, Alyssa Schmidt and Matt Schmidt; his fathers, Bill Zimmerman (Harriet Schmidt) and Frederick Zimmerman; his in-laws, Larry and Mary Regenscheid; his brother Larry Schmidt; and his brothers-in-law, Morgan Lloyd, Jerry Regenscheid and Jerry Flanagan.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Schmidt (Regenscheid) of St. Peter; his children, Brad Schmidt (Kristin) of Denver, CO and Kim Slota (Adam) of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Keira, Jenna Schmidt, Mila and Margot Slota; his siblings, Elaine Randall (Dean), Ron Schmidt (Karen), Rita Hastert (Rick), David Schmidt (Deb Ginter), Norman Schmidt (Debbie), Theresa Lloyd and John Schmidt (Cheryl); and his sisters-in-law, Sue Schmidt, Mary Murphy (John), Rita Flanagan, Kathy Regenscheid and Barb Huebsch (Dennis). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Church of the Risen Savior (1501 County Rd 42 E, Burnsville, MN 55306).
