He was predeceased by : his parents, Ludwig Pogorelc and Jennie Pogorelc (Tomsich); his wife Loretta Jean Wirtanen; and his children, Carole McLaughlin, Shirley Langham, Tom Pogorelc and David Pogorelc.

He is survived by : his daughter Bonnie Soliz (Pete); his sister Marilyn Vitali; his grandson Brandon Quick; and his great grandchild Anthony Higginbottom. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew.
