He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Thompson and Lida Thompson (Carlson); and his brothers, Jack, Carl and Merlin Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Annette "Netta" Thompson of Hibbing, MN; his children, Brenda Sterling (Jason) of Virginia, MN, Gena (James), Paul Thompson (Sara) of Gilbert, MN and Christopher Champa (Brandie) of Chisholm, MN; and his brother Mark Thompson (Laura) of Eveleth, MN. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
