He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Thein and Gertrude Thein (Krommen); his spouses, David Thein and Nikki Thein; his former wife Kathleen Donner; his wife Velma Freisleben of Clara City; his children, David and Mary Grace; and his siblings, Cecelia, Leonard, Joseph, Doris, Marie, Mildred and Peter.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Thein (Rita) of St. Cloud, Jan Lendobeja (Paul) of Brainerd, Patrice Johnson (Mike) of Glenwood, Robert Thein (Tami) of Lehigh Acres, FL, Margie Kvam (Mark) of Willmar, Judy Thomes (Jeff) of Rogers and Michael Thein (Andrea) of Spicer; and his siblings, Irene, Phyllis, Dennis and Barbara. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren.
