He was predeceased by: his parents, John August (Harry) and Annie Charlotte Peterson (Anderson); his grandson Joshua Godding; his great grandchild Hazel Viktora; and his son-in-law Jeff Ahrendt.

He is survived by: his wife Joan; his children, Steve Peterson (Sharon), Deb Godding (Chuck), Liane Ahrendt (Leon Thorson), Janette Silvey (Scott), Vicki Perish (Lorne), Russ Peterson (Cindy), Kevin Peterson (Lynn), Alisa Viktora (Kenny) and Daniel Peterson; and his great grandchild Sister Devona Berry. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and their spouses.
