He was predeceased by: his parents, Magnus Alness and Inga Alness (Foss); his wife Grace Alness (Gracie); his daughter Coleen Alness; and his siblings, Jorena Schrupp, Merlin Alness, Inghart Alness, Alvina Cole and Ordell "Marlow" Alness.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Alness (Cindy) of Mound, Arlene Young (Russell) of Tea, SD, Joanne Hanson (Larry) of Gravois Mills, MO and David Alness (Carol) of Clarkfield; and his grandchildren, Eric Alness (Melissa), Angela Koller (Jesse), Amy Larson (Curtis), Melissa Haack (Brenton), Andrew Alness Olson (Sarah), Mikayla Young, Tiffany Young, Kyla O'Doherty (Kyle), Annie Myers (Jacob), Lars Hanson (Bekah), Anders Hanson (Kayla), Michael Alness, Marit Alness and Samuel Alness. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
