He was predeceased by: his father Marvin Painter; his wife Barbara Willoughby; his parent Cleo Sandstrom (Jack); his siblings, Terry Painter and Roberta Schull; and his pet Peanut.

He is survived by: his children, Teresa Miranda (Mario), Dennis Painter (Gina), Beckey Zerr (Mark) and Denise Warner (Mark); his grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha Miranda, Samuel, Gavin Painter, Jack, Jason Gartner, Marcus, Jaymee and Regan Warner; and his sisters, Patricia Pertler and Sandra Tulino. He is also survived by relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be sent to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
