He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Murphy and Agnus Murphy; and his sisters, Patricia Uthe, Veronica David and Ceil Harris.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his children, Colleen Coughlin (Rick), Thomas Murphy (Eileen), Kathleen Docter (Mike), Kim Lindquist (Kevin Haukedahl) and Bonnie; his grandchildren, Eric, Kara, Conor, Kaylee, Ian, Cameron, Hope, Aidan and Grant; his great grandchildren, Callie, Kendal, Kinley and Annika; and his sister Carole Pokracki.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 102 4th St., Cloquet, MN 55720.
