He was predeceased by: his wife Armella (Weiner); his children, Thomas Johnston and Erin; his parents, Lavern and Gertrude (Proctor); and his brothers, Toby, Leslie, Robert and Wayne.
He is survived by: his sister Ella Bishir (Hill); his son Richard; his daughter-in-law Terry Johnston of Canton, GA; his daughter Nancy; his son-in-law Mike Fernjack of Cloquet; his son Lyle; his daughters-in-law, Patty Johnston of Shoreview, MN and Jennifer Schulz-Johnston (late Tom Johnston); and his foster daughter Deb Melina of Oregon. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nephews and nieces.
