He was predeceased by: his parents, George Stolberg and Ruth Stolberg (Sather); his wife Mary; and his son Michael. He is survived by: his close friend Jeanne Toboleski; his daughters, Laurie Wick and Sandy Cheikh (Rahal); and his grandchildren, Nicole Wick, Nabil Cheikh (Aayla), Jamila Cheikh (Anice), John Stolberg, Amina Hale (Ethan), Tekie Stolberg (Jaymie) and Jade Maki. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
