Don Root Obituary
We are sad to announce that on November 9, 2025, at the age of 68, Don Root of Cohasset, Minnesota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Root Jr. and Marian Root-Hoopman (Pellersels); his grandparents, John Root Sr., Olive Root (Tizzard), Reuben Pellersels and Opal Pellersels (Fyfe); and his brother Jim Root.
He is survived by: his wife Anna Mattson; his children, Carla Root, Kayla Root and Greg Root (Kate); his stepdaughters, Valarie Winkleman (Steve), Samantha Van Wert (Jeremy) and Clarissa Kostka; his grandchildren, Haylee, Sheldon, Elsie, Robin, Thaddeus and Penny; his great grandchild Harper; and his caregiver Julie.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Celebration Honoring Don's Life Rowe Funeral Home (510 NW 1st Ave, Grand Rapids, MN 55744).
