He was predeceased by: his parents, Thornton McCarty and Mildred McCarty (Ottinger); his wife Mary Jo McCarty; and his siblings, Mac Carrington, Jim McCarty, Lynn McCarty and Meryl McCarty.
He is survived by: his children, Michael McCarty (Heidi) and Sheila Anderson (Don); his siblings, Dixie Struckman, Sandy Boese (Bill) and Ned McCarty (Lela); his grandchildren, Hunter McCarty (Payton), Logan McCarty (Michelle), Gavin McCarty, Jacob Anderson (Elly) and Julie Anderson; and his great grandchildren, Dakota McCarty, Ezran McCarty, Harrison McCarty, Fisher McCarty, Callon McCarty, Raife McCarty and Arden McCarty. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, March 9th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (315 SW 21st St, Grand Rapids, MN 55744). A burial will be held on Monday, March 9th 2026 at 1:45 PM at the Wildwood Cemetery (1102 Central Ave, Cohasset, MN 55721).
