She was predeceased by: her parents, Michael Ritten and Margaret Ritten (Thoennes); her husband Leo Francis Schmitz; her grandson Adam Denny; her son-in-law George Lipinski; her brothers, Jerry and Roman Barnack (Phyllis); and her sister-in-law Janice Ritten.
She is survived by: her children, Deb Crowley (Clem) of Howard Lake, Donna Hughes (Jim) of Dassel, Bonnie Gebhart (Pete) of Detroit Lakes, Darlene Fah (Scott) of Hewitt, Marlene Lipinski of Hewitt, JoAnn Oliver (Jerry) of Long Prairie, Mary Traut (Tony) of St. Joseph, John Schmitz (Brandy) of Hewitt, Tina Wegscheid (Louie) of Wadena, Bob Schmitz of Wadena, David Schmitz (Christine) of Perham and Steve Schmitz of Detroit Lakes; her brother Michael Ritten of Parkers Prairie; and her sister-in-law Karen Barnack.
