He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Kempi and Violet Kempi (Maki). He is survived by: his siblings, Sharon Kempi, Susan Thieling and Marvin Kempi; his nephew Michael Kempi; his great-niece Brandi Frakie; his sisters, Myrna Wells-Ulland (Robert Ulland) of Phoenix, AZ and Debra Switzer (Robert) of Cromwell; his wife Helen (Haapoja); his grandchildren, Clint McDuffie (Emily), Nicole Thompson (Alex) and Travis Jones; his great grandchildren, Hope, Marley, Harper, Adley and Xander; and his niece DeeDee Haines. He is also survived by Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Home of Rob and Deb Switzer (5687 Strand Rd, Cromwell, MN 55726).
He got bit by the Alzheimer's bug and moved back to Tucson for a couple years.
