He is survived by: his grandchildren, Nick Merten Crookston, Nate Merten (Elizabeth Bland), Madison Hulst Crookston (Dylan Hanshaw) and Caitlin Hulst Fargo (Josh Crandall); his great grandchildren, Kensley, Kylie, Gwynevere Hanshaw of Crookston and Everett Merten of Baldwin, WI.; and his wife Kathleen Merten.
