He was predeceased by: his parents, Engebret Thompson and Alma Thompson (Overgsten); his siblings, Orville, Duane, Wallace, Edwin, Elmer and Muriel (Baukol); and his son-in-law Gary Langer.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Helen Opdahl; his children, Kimberley Seaton (Bryan) of Crookston, Karen Langer of Crookston and Kevin Thompson of Crookston; his grandchildren, Amy Johnston (Chris) and Ashley Langer (Wyatt Remmick); his great grandchildren, Colten, Cayden Johnston, Brooklyn and Beau Remmick; his brother Arvid Thompson; and his siblings-in-law, Alan Sandberg, Janis Thompson and Wanda Wilkens.
