He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Hartung and Anna Hartung (Moritz); his wife Mary Moore; his daughter Mary Jo Shire; and his brothers, Adam and Floyd Hartung.

He is survived by: his daughters, Janice Hartung of Phoenix, AZ, Donna Hartung of Ironton and Gayle Hartung of Plant City, FL. He is also survived by Six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
