He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Hoaas and Emma Hoaas (Warstad); his siblings, Andor Hoaas (Roberta), Walter Hoaas (Lois), Lester Hoaas (Arlene), Leonard Hoaas (Lois), Mildred Haugen (Oliver), Gladys Haugen (Ray) and Muriel Ranum (Ray); and his parents-in-law, Alfred and Clementine Koeplin.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Koeplin; his children, Kevin Hoaas (Sheri Cook) of Fargo, ND, Kim Hoaas (Lisa) of Eldorado, CA and Connie Rongen (Barry) of Dent; his grandsons, Matthew Rongen (Katie), Eric Rongen (Chelsey), Elliot Rongen (Morgan), Andrew Hoaas (Rakshya) and Trevor Hoaas (Shelby); and his great grandchildren, Ridley, Ryker, Wrenly Rongen, Thane Rongen, Anisten Petersen, Cale Petersen, Braylee, Boone Rongen, Bryson, Kylan Hoaas, Avery, Raelynn and Walker Hoaas.
