He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale Gillespie and Joyce Gillespie (Anderson); and his nephews, Trevor Gillespie and Tanner Stokes. He is survived by: his girlfriend Sheila; his children, Patricia Ross (Jeff) of Pelican Rapids, Ronald Overson of Detroit Lakes and Michael Overson (Chessica) of Glyndon; and his siblings, Delbert Gillespie of Palmhurst, TX, Verl Gillespie (Starr) of Palmhurst, TX, Darrell Gillespie (Gwen) of Ashby, Glenda Stokes of Alexandria and Linda Fahlin of Garfield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Eagle's Healing Nest.
