He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Weets (Johnson) and John Carl Weets Sr.; his sisters, Joann and Becky Jasch; his nephews, Chan and Lenny Litzau; and his brother-in-law Ron Hamm.

He is survived by: his girlfriend Deb Leitheiser of Detroit Lakes, MN; his children, John Weets Jr. (Marie), Jason Weets (Kelly), Jodi Kasprowicz (Darryle) of Stephen, MN and Michael Weets of Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Paige and Logan Weets; his children, Jenna, Jillian Weets, Zachary, Cole Berg (Hannah), Hannah, Dawson Kasprowicz and Rachael Foley (James); his great grandchildren, Nora Berg, Sadie and Reid Foley; his siblings, Karen Stilke of Detroit Lakes, MN, Mary Hamm of Frazee, MN, Thomas Weets (Janis) of Osage, MN and Ernie Heden of Detroit Lakes, MN; his brother-in-law Jon Jasch of Detroit Lakes, MN.; his pets, Bella, Maggie, Cricket and Squirt; Tammie Jenson (Marty) of Detroit Lakes, MN and Joann Weets. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
