He is survived by: his children, Kathy O'Rourke (Michael) of Duluth, Jim Whelan of Duluth and Patty Whelan (Steve Preckel) of Duluth; his grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan, David, Nicole, Josie, Monique, Ellen, Adam and Ross; his great grandchildren, Athena, Arren, Ruby, Clara, Brighton, Lila, Rowan, Kyla, Violet, Jack, Lola, Avril, Zane, Lennon, Sunny and Willa; and his brother John Whelan (Jacqui).

Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the IBEW Local 242 Apprentice Fund to support future electricians.
