He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Hughes and Jeanne Hughes (Branscombe); and his sisters, Patty Hughes Mezger (Matt) and Cathie Trachsel (Pokey). He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Patrick (Ellie), Tiffany (Bill Owens) and Alycia (Chris Smith); his grandchildren, Grace, Hailey and Tyson (Tori); his great grandchild Aliza; and his siblings, John Hughes (Deb), Jeff Hughes (Nada), Doug Hughes (Susan) and Lisa Hughes Zellmer. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances of David can be directed to an outdoor or hockey charity of your choice.
