He was predeceased by: his parents, Dallas Garnatz and Ruth Garnatz (Stender); and his brothers, Roger and Myron. He is survived by: his wife Faith; his sons, Jacob (Lindsey) of DeKalb, IL, Benjamin (Cassie) of Burlington, WI and Andrew (Brette) of Duluth, MN; and his granddaughters, Raegan and Isabell Garnatz.
