As Helen departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Helen. Though Helen may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Silander and Aili Silander; her husband Kenneth; her son Daniel; her son-in-law Donald Byerly Jr.; and her sister Irja Houghtaling (Ray).
She is survived by: her children, Christine Byerly, Peter Hendrickson (LouAnn) and Kathryn Edblom (David). She is also survived by eight grandchildren and their spouses, sixteen great- grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the French River Lutheran Church (5310 Ryan Rd, Duluth, MN 55804). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to French River Lutheran Church and/or North Shore Community School Endowment Fund.
