He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Soetebier and Elsie Soetebier (Wilke); his siblings, Traula and Richard; his nephew Kurt Soetebier; and his son Kurt.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia Mattson; his brother William Soetebier (Mary) of Dallas, GA; his daughter Lynn Soetebier of St. Paul; his grandsons, Nicholas and Jon Thurn; his daughter Laura Soetebier (Patrick Burns) of Mpls; his granddaughters, Alyssa Soetebier and Alexandra Rincon (Jordan); his daughter Gretchen Soetebier of Duluth; his grandson Max Maus; his daughter Heidi Nessa (David) of Hermantown; his grandchild Karlyn Nessa; and his great grandchildren, Raul, Selena Rincon, Hayden Soetebier and Hope Hoekstra.
