He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Sr. Gummerson and Mercedes Gummerson (Baker); his brother Jim; and his children, James and Theresa.

He is survived by: his wife Mary; his daughters, Debra Robbins (Tim), Mary Jo Norrell and Susan Verado (Steve); his sister Mary Heyl; and his brothers-in-law, Mark Ponsolle (Carol) and John Ponsolle (Michelle). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
