She was predeceased by : her parents, Adolph Nylund and Ellen Nylund (Käld); her husband Robert Salmela; and her great grandchild Robert Leo Salmela. She is survived by : her siblings, Roger and Audrey Elnes; her children, Karen Salmela (Bruce), Janet Janson (John), Ronald Salmela and Sandra Mantius (John-Erich); her sisters, Ruby Peterson and Doris Bergersen; her sisters-in-law, Ardyth Salmela, Jean Salmela and Phyllis Salmela; her grandchildren, Liz (Thor), Ben (Robin), Mike (Mandy), Evan (Shelly), Pam, Laura (Tim), Eric (Britinee), Andreas (Megan), Anders (Galina), Annika, Maximilian and Alessandra (Rene); her great grandchildren, Enzo, Lucy, Mason, Marek, Isla, Amber, Seth, Lance, Sonja, Reo, Kennedy, Silas, Cora, Alisa, Eva, Emma and Olivia; and her great great grandchild Harvey.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church (6273 US-2, Cloquet, MN 55720). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
