He is survived by: his wife Dawn Ferguson-Carranza; his stepson Eric Carranza (Molly Brandt); his granddaughter Ellie Carranza; his siblings, Kristine Gualazzi (Nick), Kathleen Muirhead and Jon Kivela of Wyoming; his nieces, Paloma Caskey and Krysta Kivela; and his nephew Troy Kivela.
