He was predeceased by: his parents, Felix Baakkonen and Carolyn Baakkonen (Koppes); his sister Geri Poupard; and his stepdaughter Karen. He is survived by: his wife Betty Smith; his daughters, Bobbi Hines (Brian) and Holly Hines (James); his stepchildren, Gail Frank (John) and Dennis Hines (Sherry); and his sister Virginia Andresen (Bill). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
