He is survived by: his children, Cindy Bolden (Lionel) of Marshall, Ryan Achterhoff (Marcia) of Sioux Falls, Patti Kruger (Kelly) of Bennington and Kyle Achterhoff (Amy) of Sioux Center, Iowa; and his sisters, Joyce Hageman of Glen Carbon and Eileen Matson of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
