He was predeceased by: his parents, John Tokar and Marie Tokar (Cieslak); and his siblings, Gladys, Dorothy, Lorraine, Marie and Edward.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia Johnson; his children, Michael (Jean), Mark (Barbara), Douglas (Jane) and Kathryn; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, David, Robert, Kacie, Alex, Beth, Paul, Jordan and Jason. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
