It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ronald E. Gaarder of Elk River, Minnesota, who passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gaarder and Marguerite Gaarder (Noyes); and his siblings, Laurel Falconer, Fran Welte and Gary Gaarder.
He is survived by: his wife Joan; his daughters, Erica Miller (Marcus) of St. Cloud and Emily Gaarder of Duluth; his siblings, Dennis Gaarder of Chaska, Corrine Iverson of Minneapolis and Vernon Gaarder (Gail) of Plymouth; and his grandchildren, Ian Miller, Anna Miller and Isabel Creger (Izzy).
Ron loved flowers but would also welcome memorial donations to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation @ Minneapolis Heart Institute.
