He was predeceased by: his parents, Mathias Skala and Orba Skala (Sandnas); his brother Frank; and his wife Carol Lynne Griese. He is survived by: his daughters, Vicky Cherne (Paul) of Shoreview, MN, Valerie Walker (Bob) of Elburn, IL and Sarah Skala (Stephen Brandt) of Ely; his grandchildren, Anthony Cherne (McKenzie), Mary Schoenfelder (Garett) and John Cherne; and his great grandchild Greta Schoenfelder.
