He was predeceased by: his parents, Hoyt Alden and Sara Marguerite; his sister Sally Sevey Fitt; and his daughter Lynn Trombley. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Nelson Sevey; and his children, Kathy Larson (Tom), Jenn Thomas, Tom Waknitz (Michelle) and Tami Smits. He is also survived by grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
