She was predeceased by: her parents, Leo Maher and Fannie Maher (Carney); her former husband Ken Bird; her husband Francis Swanson; her stepfather Gus Kramer; her brothers-in-law, Lyle Bird (Avis) and Larry Drager; her parents-in-law, James Harry and Dorcus Bird; Robert Swanson (Charlene), Marv Holland (Ella Jean), Maurice Holland and Lester Lenz.
She is survived by: her children, Jeffrey Bird and JoAnn Myers (Curtis); her daughter-in-law Carolyn Bird; her son Dennis Mattson (Carol); her stepchildren, Daniel Swanson (Mary), Linda Sauck (Brian), Roger Swanson (Heidi) and Cathy Frasier (Matthew "Lee"); her grandchildren, Sarah Bird, Shelly Tomforde (Bryan), Noelle Pauli (Steve) and Christopher Mattson (Mignot Teshome-Mattson); her great grandchildren, Sabrina, Hudson, Violet Tomforde, Gavin, Avery Pauli, Abby, Natan, Logan and Maya Mattson; and her siblings-in-law, Patricia Drager (Bird), Marian Holland, Elaine Lenz and Edward Swanson (Lorna). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lakeview Funeral Home (205 Albion Ave, Fairmont, MN 56031).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to Bethel Evangelical Free Church, the Martin County Humane Society, UHD Hospice, or to the donor's choice.
