He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald Matthies and Josephine Matthies (Maas); his brother Michael Matthies; his brothers-in-law, Frank "Butch" Thompson, James "Jim" Bahe and Bernie Murphy; his nephew Mark Matthies; and his great-nephew Dillon Bendt.
He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Ann Thompson of Faribault, Richard "Dick" Matthies (Sandy) of Bloomington, MN, JoAnn Murphy (Dan Long) of Aurora, CO, Jan Odegard (Larry) of Northfield, MN and Dale Matthies (Deb) of Merrifield, MN. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
