He was predeceased by: his parents, William Charlton and Ellen Mary Charlton (Bulger); his wife Mary Menke; and his siblings, Kenny, Bill, Larry Charlton, Helen Mary Baldwin, Lois Ann Forney, Joyce Charlton and Judy Mans.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Charlton (Norma), Paul Charlton, David Charlton (Julie), Jean Kohlnhofer (Yon), Peter Charlton (Pamela) and Anne Kraemer (Patrick); and his brother Jack Charlton (Janice). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
