He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry McCarthy and Irene McCarthy (Ronhovde); his grandson Jason McCarthy; and his siblings, Kenneth McCarthy and Elaine Quinn.

He is survived by: his wife Rose McCarthy of Faribault, MN; and his children, Teri McCarthy of New London, MN, Flynn McCarthy (Eva) of Miami, FL, Brendan McCarthy (Tara) of Brooklyn Center, MN and Brigid Klaysmat (Steve) of Chanhassen, MN. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Steve.
