He is survived by: his partner Kim Ellertson; his children, Gretchen Sterling (Josh), Heidi Bandy and Ben Staerk (Lisa); and his siblings, Monika (Dick), Hannelore, Karl (Mary), Karin (Bruce) and Sue. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; many nieces and nephews.
