He was predeceased by: his parents, William Drechsel and Margaret Drechsel (Eckblad); and his father-in-law Ralph Walkup. He is survived by: his wife Marcia Walkup; his children, Jessica Ridout (Zach) and Jeremy Drechsel; his grandchildren, Jayla and Gavin; his siblings, Becky Drechsel, Lawrence Drechsel and Matthew Drechsel; his mother-in-law Twila Walkup; and his brothers-in-law, Kelly Walkup and Todd Walkup. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
