He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred M. Johnson and Anna Christine Johnson; his wife Preceding; and his sister Eleanor Johnson of Grand Forks. He is survived by: his sons, Michael of Fergus Falls, Steven (Roslyn) of Plymouth and Robert (Margo) of Moorhead; his grandsons, Adam (Rachael), Brady (Mia) and Tyler (Nathalie); and his great grandchildren, Celia, Tori, Freyja and Sofia.
At various times he served as president or chairman of the Jaycees, the Noon Kiwanis Club, the United Way of Otter Tail County, Lake Region Rehabilitation Industries (now Productive Alternatives) and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Foundation.
