He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Astrup and Margret Astrup (Oberpriller); his wife Patricia Ann Thomas of Minneapolis; and his siblings, David, Jim (Delores), Jerry, Tom, Ron and Betty Sanchez (Alex).

He is survived by: his children, Michele Astrup of Princeton, Elaine Waldschmitt (Jim) of Johnston, IA and Laurel Callaghan (Bill) of Eau Claire, WI; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly, Patrick Zender (Kari Feldwerd), Craig, Andrew, Ben Waldschmitt, Elizabeth Munger (Sam), Joseph Callaghan, Michelle Holtz (David) and Meghan Callaghan; his great grandchildren, Trent, Rilyn, Brooklynn, Ryder, Barrett, Kaide Zender and Luke Munger; his brother Robert Astrup (Patricia) of Columbia Heights, MN; and his sisters-in-law, Rosie Astrup of Apache Junction, AZ and Karen Celski of St. Paul, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
