He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Oien and Catherine Oien (Jorgenson); his wife Marlys Ann Skanson; his granddaughter Jenna Welch; his sisters, Marian, Adeline, Hazel and Francis; and his brothers-in-law, Dan Skanson, Einar Buringrud and Carl Aamold.
He is survived by: his close friend Iris Moen; his children, Colleen Welch (John) of Grand Forks, ND, Kevin (Mary) and Keith "Chumbly" (Kay) of Crookston, MN; his grandchildren, Kelly Welch of Fargo, ND, Maren Welch of Grand Forks, ND, Jon (Hannah) of Lisbon, ND, Michael (Alexa) of Bismarck, ND, Brandon (Hailey) of Bismarck, ND, Angie (Josh) of Crookston, MN, John (Ashlee) of Apple Valley, MN and Jacob (Madelyn) of Bismarck, ND; his great grandchildren, Jensen and Ellen; his brother Don Oien (Dee) of Foley, MN; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Skanson of Fertile, MN. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their children.
In lieu of flowers his family requests memorials be given to Maple Bay Lutheran Free Church in Kenny's memory.
