He was predeceased by: his parents, Wendell Long and Vi Long (Meyenberg); his brothers, Robert and Jim; his sisters-in-law, Donna Long and Karen Long; and his nephews, Mike Long and Scott Long.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ulschmid; and his brother John Long (Joan). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.
