She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Wastweet and Emma Wastweet (Martinson); her husband Ralph Smith; her son Galyn Smith; her grandson Tyrel Smith; and her siblings, Evelyn Wastweet, Alton Wastweet (Twyla), Elda Ranz (Walter), Verla Johnson (Kenneth), Vincent Wastweet (Mary Ann) and Arlan Wastweet.

She is survived by: her children, Steve Smith (Kristin) of West Des Moines, IA and Kandy Heiman (Bob Hop); her sister Jan Koski (Dick) of Fargo; her daughter-in-law Cindy Smith of Fertile, MN; and her sister-in-law Carol Wastweet. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Boulger Funeral Home (123 10th St S, Fargo, ND 58103). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
