He was predeceased by: his parents-in-law, Eugene and Pauline Elbert; his sisters, Glorian Sander (Ron) and Marilyn Briard; and his parents, Arthur Bentz and Mildred Bentz (Lillienthal).

He is survived by: his wife Faye Bentz; his children, Amy Bentz and Darren Bentz (Heidi); his grandchildren, Calvin Bentz and Kaitlyn (Andrew Vaerst); his siblings, Carolyn Johnson (Greg), Brad Bentz (Karen) and Donovan Bentz (Sue); and his siblings-in-law, Pam White (Brad), Lance Briard, Ron Elbert (Miriam) and Blaine Elbert (Jo). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for the building fund at Moltke Township.
