It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of David Alan Engebretson of Glenwood, Minnesota, who passed away on July 17, 2025, at the age of 62, leaving to mourn family and friends. As David departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though David may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy David leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his father Hans Engebretson; and his grandparents, John, Mildred Morton and Mabel Engebretson. He is survived by: his mother Marjorie Engebretson (Morton) of Glenwood; his fiancé Ellejae Michieka of Maple Grove; and his siblings, Karen Freeman (Charles) of Starbuck, Amy Roth (David) of Alexandria and William Engebretson (Wendie) of Glenwood. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and many classmates and great friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, August 4th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home - Glenwood Chapel (122 1st Ave NE, Glenwood, MN 56334). A masonic service will be held on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
