He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Nordling and Freida Nordling (Anderson); his siblings, LeVern, Curtis Nordling and Margaret Olson; his son Anthony Sandgren; his grandson Matthew Sandgren; and his sister-in-law Kimberly Nordling.

He is survived by: his wife Alice Nordling; his children, Eric Nordling (Rebecca), Kevin Kahldahl (Roseanne) and Laura Sandgren; his grandchildren, Dustin, Alex, Cassie, Tiffany, Ed, Michael (Ashley) and Patrick; and his siblings, Sandra Henrickson (Gordon), Arlys Korynta (Ronald), Marianne "Patsy" Rivard (Dale), Lee (Sheila), Frederick and Donald Nordling. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home - Glenwood Chapel (122 1st Ave NE, Glenwood, MN 56334). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Chapel (122 1st Ave NE, Glenwood, MN 56334). The military honors will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Oak Park Lutheran Cemetery.
