He was predeceased by: his parents, Einer Hanttula and Bertha Hanttula; his wife Roberta "Bobbie" Hanttula; his daughter Kathy Warlick; his granddaughter Amber Fisher; and his nephew Nicholas Hanttula.

He is survived by: his children, Victor Hanttula (Alexis) of Cohasset, MN, James Hanttula (Angie) of Bovey, MN, Paula Hanttula-Johnson (Billy) of Nashwauk, MN, David Fisher of Fayetteville, NC and Joseph Fisher (Nina) of Ewing, NJ; his grandchildren, Tanner, Josie Hanttula, Robert, Jeremy Jackson, Nathan, Jacie, Jacob Fisher, Zackery Fisher, Jada, Paige Dudley, Sarina and Eric Johnson; his siblings, Richard Hanttula of Melbourne, FL and Jean Lewis of Las Vegas, NV; his nieces, Amy DeCatur of Melbourne, FL and Kirsten Lewis of Las Vegas, NV; his great-nieces, Jenni and Sydney DeCatur; and his great-nephew Liam Lewis. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a garden plant be donated to the United Methodist Church plant sale on May 28, 2025 or a monetary donation be made to the church Missions Committee.
